EURO 2020 comes into view as New Year approaches

Now in its eighth year, New Year’s Festival Dublin (NYF Dublin) is set to ring in 2020 with yet another spectacular line-up of music and entertainment for all the family. Dublin’s Custom House will once again be centre stage for what will be an afternoon and evening of dazzling choreographed light show.

The Festival organisers, Dublin City Council & Fáilte Ireland, are both key players in the multi-agency project that will see UEFA EURO 2020 come to these shores next June. Therefore, it made complete sense to try and incorporate a UEFA EURO 2020 element within the centrepiece ‘Liffey Lights Midnight Moment’ show.

Alan Morrin from Dublin City Council’s EURO 2020 Project Office explains – “we have centred our pre-promotional campaign for the tournament around the strategy of leveraging against current large scale festivals and events such as Culture Night, NYF Dublin & St. Patrick’s Festival. UEFA are keen for each host city to stamp their own culture and heritage on proceedings so therefore we feel we are addressing this request while also availing of a ready-made large scale audience … it’s a win-win!”

The Liffey Lights Midnight Moment commences at 11.30pm with excitement building to a crescendo as the clock strikes midnight, ringing in 2020. It will be preceeded by the NYF Countdown Concert featuring Walking On Cars, Ash, Aimee & Lisa McHugh. This takes place on Custom House Quay from 8pm and tickets (which include entry to the Liffey Lights Midnight Moment) are available from www.ticketmaster.ie.

The UEFA EURO 2020 activation @ NYF Dublin is one of a number of City Council driven activations taking place over the coming months to help drive awareness of UEFA EURO 2020 in Dublin.
